Diploma Course in Clinical Psychology

Course Title : Diploma Course in Clinical Psychology (Dip.Cli.Psy.)
For whom (target group) : This is a structured and comprehensive Diploma program for all those who have studied Psychology or Counselling before at Diploma or Advanced Diploma / HND level and wish to explore and study further and obtain the body of knowledge (BoK) and training in the many theories, concepts and principles of applied Clinical Psychology. This is an intermediate level course for practicing medical doctors, psychiatric nurses, counsellors, special education teachers, psychiatric social workers, occupational therapists, child care and child protection workers and officers and other teacher training and psychology undergraduate students who want to broaden their theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the field of applied clinical psychology and mental health. This course is also suitable for those who wish to embark on further academic and/or professional studies and practical training in the field of Clinical Psychology, Counselling Psychology, Forensic Psychology, Child and Adolescent Psychology and Mental Health, Psychotherapy, Educational Psychology, etc. in Sri Lanka or abroad.
Entry Requirements : Medical Graduates, Nursing Graduates, University Graduates or Members of recognized Counselling Professional bodies with a Professional / Academic Diploma or Advanced / Higher (National) Diploma (HND) holders in Psychology or Holders of a recognized Diploma in Psychology or Counselling Psychology, and Age not less than 22 years, and Fluency of the English language is essential.
Course Duration : 16 Weeks (4 Months) – part time study
Contact Hours : 3 Hrs. per week
Total No. of Classes : 16 class-contact sessions
Total No. of Contact Hrs : 48 Hrs. of Lectures and teaching/discussion time
Class Times : Saturdays 2.00 p.m. to 5.00 p.m.

Mode of Final Examination and Assessment

The award of the IMH Diploma in Clinical Psychology (Dip.Cli.Psy.) will be contingent upon passing a 3 hour internally set unseen essay type final examination paper to be answered on a closed book examination mode under proper invigilation at the IMH premises.

Regular Group Course Fees : Rs. 57,000/- +  Rs. 1,000/- for registration (Could be paid by cash, credit card or cheque in two equal installments of Rs. 29,000/-)
Distance Learning / Online Course Fees: USD $170 (for foreign students and other psychology and counselling professionals and healthcare workers living out of the Western Province in Sri Lanka will be considered on an individual case-by-case basis).
Next Course Start Date : Physical Group Class: Saturday 07th January 2023 – 2.00 pm to 5.00 pm (A maximum of 10 students will be enrolled for the group class due to Covid-19 Public Health guidelines)
