Course Description               :

Public health is about helping people to stay healthy and protecting them from threats to their health.

Sometimes public health activities involve helping individuals. At other times they involve dealing with wider factors that have an impact on the health of many people, for example an age-group, an ethnic group, a locality, or a country.

As such, public health is the science of protecting and improving the health of people and their communities. This work is achieved by promoting healthy lifestyles, researching disease and injury prevention, and detecting, preventing and responding to infectious diseases. Overall, public health is concerned with protecting the health of entire populations. These populations can be as small as a local neighborhood, or as big as an entire country or region of the world.

Health care or healthcare is the improvement of health via the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, amelioration or cure of disease, illness, injury, and other physical and mental impairments in people. Health care is delivered by health professionals and allied health fields. Medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, midwifery, nursing, optometry, audiology, psychology, occupational therapy, physical therapy, athletic training, and other health professions all constitute health care. It includes work done in providing primary care, secondary care, and tertiary care, as well as in public health.

Entry Requirements:                         Students and Graduates in Nursing, Biomedical Sciences, Teaching / Education, Psychology or Social Work, Medical doctors, nurses and other healthcare students or practitioners / professionals and age not less than 20 years, and Fluency of the English language is essential.

The current 2024 all-inclusive Course Fee for new students is as follows:

For Non-IMH Students: Rs. 40,000/-

For Previous IMH Students: Rs. 35,000/- (Discounted course fee)

For Overseas / International Students: USD $130

Course fees has to be paid in full by cash, cheque, credit / debit card or via a bank transfer payment.

Final Course Assessment / Evaluation

There are three separate assignments to be completed independently at home and submitted to the IMH for evaluation. Once a “pass” grade has been achieved for all three assignments the IMH Diploma in Public Health and Healthcare and course transcript will be awarded to the registered student.
