Certificate Course in Educational Psychology

Course Title : Certificate in Educational Psychology (CEP)
For whom (target group) : This is a structured comprehensive foundation program / course for all those who wish to study and obtain the essential body of knowledge (BOK) and training in the basic theories and principles of Educational Psychology. This course is essential for practicing primary and secondary school teachers, special education teachers, trainee teachers, assistant teachers and teacher aides and other teacher training and psychology students who want to broaden their theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the field of educational psychology, or also for those who wish to embark on further academic and/or professional studies and practical training in the field of advanced Educational Psychology, Child and Adolescent Psychology, Teacher Training, Education Management and Pedagogy in Sri Lanka or abroad.
Entry Requirements : University Graduates or Members of recognized Professional bodies, or School Teachers or Assistant Teachers, or Professional / Academic Diploma or Advanced / Higher (National) Diploma holders or Holders of a Certificate / Diploma in Teacher Training, Education, Psychology or Counselling, and Age not less than 20 years, and Fluency of the English language is essential.
Course Duration : 3 Months (36 Hours) – part time study
Contact Hours : 3 Hrs. per week
Total No. of Classes : 12 class-contact sessions
Total No. of Contact Hrs : 36 Hrs. of Lectures and teaching/discussion time
Class Times : Saturdays: 10.00 a.m to 1.00 p.m. (for the group class)

 Individual Fast-Track Class: Flexible (3 to 6 hours per week – on weekdays)

Mode of Final Examination and Assessment

The award of the IMH Certificate in Educational Psychology (CEP) will be contingent upon passing a 2-hour internally set unseen MCQ final examination paper to be answered on a closed book examination mode at the IMH premises. The minimum pass mark is 70%.

Regular Group Course Fees : Rs. 38,000/- + Rs. 1,000/- for registration (Could be paid by cash, credit card or cheque in three equal installments of Rs. 13,000/-)
Individual Fast-Track Course Fees : Rs. 79,000/- + Rs. 1,000/- for registration (Could be paid by cash, credit card or cheque in two equal installments of Rs. 40,000/-)
Distance Learning / Online Course Delivery USD $120 (for foreign students and other professionals and teachers living out of the Western Province in Sri Lanka will be considered on an individual case-by-case basis).
Course Start Date : Group Class: May 2020  -date to be announced   (A maximum of 20 students will be enrolled for the group class)

Individual Class: On a mutually agreeable timetable schedule – date and time (to be decided jointly by the participant and the resource person).
